    1. Why did Jackson introduce the spoils system? What did he call it, how did he describe it, and why was it important to him and his Democratic Republicans?
    2. How did Jackson's institution of the spoils system democratize and Americanize the executive branch?
    3. When the spoils system came into being under Jackson's administration, how did he and his supporters defend it? Would you have defended it at the time? If so, why? If not, why not?
